Iditarod Race & Fur Rondy Tour

4 Days/4 Nights

February 28 March 3, 2018

The world-famous Iditarod Sled Dog Race kicks off with a ceremonial start in downtown Anchorage on Saturday, March 4. Fans call it the last great race on earth: the route covers 1,000 miles of some of the world’s most extreme and beautiful terrain across mountain ranges, frozen rivers, dense forests, wind-swept tundra and arctic coastline. On this special package tour, you’ll experience the excitement of the Iditarod as well as a full-day rail journey into Alaska’s winter backcountry, and a chance to explore an authentically Alaskan good time: the annual Fur Rendezvous festival, known affectionately to locals as simply “Rondy.”

TOUR PRICE: $365

ITINERARY

Wednesday, February 28

Arrive in Anchorage and overnight. Explore Alaska's largest city at your leisure; downtown Anchorage is home to many shops, restaurants, art galleries and an excellent museum.

Thursday, March 1

Board the Hurricane Turn Train, one of America’s last flagstop services, for a trip into Alaska’s Interior. The full-day, round-trip journey travels north from Anchorage to Hurricane Gulch, along the Susitna River and through the Indian River valley. Overnight in Anchorage.

Friday, March 2

Head out into Fur Rondy, an Anchorage celebration dating back to the days when fur trappers wanted to blow off a little mid-winter steam. Now, it’s one of the world's premier winter festivals, with dozens of unique attractions and festivities. Overnight in Anchorage.

Saturday, March 3

The Iditarod Sled Dog Race starts within walking distance of your hotel. The streets of downtown Anchorage are filled with snow and lined with spectators for the race start! After the last musher leaves the chute, enjoy time to explore downtown Anchorage. The following day, fly home or opt to add on more activities in the Anchorage area.

This package has one start date of February 28, 2018. Meals and optional tours are not included. Price per person based on double occupancy. All prices are subject to change without notice.
